Brenntag acquires Food, Water Treatment and Paper activities of the Spanish chemical distributor Productos Riba, S.A.

 

Brenntag, the global market leader in full-line chemical distribution, has completed the acquisition of the Food, Water Treatment and Paper activities of Productos Riba, S.A., a long established distributor of Specialty ingredients in the Spanish market. Productos Riba is headquartered in Granollers (Barcelona). Sales of the acquired activities amounted to Euro 11 million in 2009. The agreement will be effective from October 1, 2010.

Brenntag adds to its strong market position in North America

 

Brenntag, global market leader in chemical distribution, continues its growth path and has agreed with Houghton Chemical Corporation (HCC) to acquire certain assets of the Industrial Chemicals & Solvents division of HCC for a total purchase price of USD 7.1 million. The acquisition enables Brenntag to increase its market share primarily in the New England states and to improve its position in focused industries like Pharmaceuticals, Personal Care and ACES (Adhesives, Coatings, Elastomers, Sealants).

Brenntag  significantly expands its market presence in Asia Pacific with acquisition of EAC Industrial Ingredients Ltd. A/S

 

Brenntag, global market leader in chemical distribution, further expands its market position in the growth area Asia Pacific by acquiring 100% of the shares of EAC Industrial Ingredients Ltd. A/S, a sizeable provider of chemical distribution solutions in South and South East Asia. Selling company is Copenhagen based The East Asiatic Company Ltd. A/S, a stock-listed Danish company. The purchase price is EUR 160 million on a cash and debt free basis. Brenntag Office Opens in New Zealand
 

Brenntag, global market leader in chemical distribution, announces the opening of an office in Auckland New Zealand, as an initial step toward significantly expanding its business footprint in the New Zealand Market.

 

Brenntag will focus on growth across its core strategic markets, which in New Zealand will include: Coatings, Food, Personal Care/ Cleaning and Primary Based Industries such as Pulp and Paper and Agrochemicals.

Brenntag acquires French chemical distributor Metausel

Brenntag names Holland Chief Operating Officer

Brenntag, the global leader in chemical distribution, announced that Steve Holland has been appointed to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer Brenntag Group effective October 1, 2009. Brenntag opens new storage and distribution center in the Netherlands
 

On June 13, 2008 Brenntag, the global leader in chemical distribution, will open a new site in the Chemiehaven of Rotterdam Port (The Netherlands).

Brenntag confirms formal approval for the acquisition of chemical supply activities from Yara

 

Brenntag, the global leader in chemical distribution, is pleased to confirm the formal approval from the Swedish and German competition authorities for the acquisition of the chemical supply activities of Yara (Oslo) at the sites in Köping (Sweden) and Tertre (Belgium).


The acquisition, announced by the two companies on April 25th, includes ammonia nitrate solution, aqueous ammonia and weak nitric acid supply activities conducted from the Köping production site in Sweden and the ammonia nitrate solution, aqueous ammonia, weak nitric acid and concentrated nitric acid supply activities conducted from the Kemira GrowHow production site at Tertre, Belgium. In each case, related production and distribution assets form part of the purchase package.

Brenntag invests in growth Mexico

 

Successful acquisition of BASF’s Mexican distribution center in Querétaro

 

Brenntag Mexico S.A. de C.V., subsidiary of Brenntag, the global leader in the growth market for the distribution of chemicals, announces the acquisition of the BASF distribution center in Querétaro, Mexico.

 

With this step Brenntag Mexico is now able to realize the move from the former main distribution center in Tultitlán to the state of the art BASF facility, located in the growing industrial park of Querétaro, 200 km (125 miles) north of Mexico City. The site has 14,000 square meters (150,000 square feet) warehouse space including 1,000 square meters (11,000 square feet) of temperature controlled rooms for fine chemicals and vitamins. The site is located on a property of 77,000 square meters (19.3 acres) and has capacities to receive and park up to 80 railcars simultaneously.

Brenntag opens new facility for feed additives in Poland

Albion purchases UK distribution business from Euroresins
 

Albion Chemicals, part of Brenntag Group, announces the purchase of the Hexion specialties UK distribution business from Euroresins, the distribution subsidiary of DSM Composite Resins.

 

Euroresins is the exclusive UK distributor for the Hexion Speciality Chemicals range of epoxy resins and curing agents for coatings, civil engineering and formulating applications. These include the specialist range of Thermoset Performance Products (TPP's), which are water based and other high performance epoxy based systems.

Brenntag Italy acquires Italian food ingredients and raw materials distributor Natural World


Effective July 1, 2007 Brenntag, Italy, the global leader in the growth market for the distribution of chemicals, acquired the Italian food ingredients and raw materials distributor Natural World, headquartered in Lugo (RA), Northern Italy. 

 

Natural World distributes speciality to the Italian food Industry. In particular the company is specialized in the distribution of ingredients and formulation to focused industries of bakery and dairy. In 2006 Natural World generated total sales of Eur 8,8 million.

Brenntag acquires St. Lawrence Chemical


Effective January 4, 2007, Brenntag, the global leader in the growth market for the distribution of chemicals, has entered into an agreement to obtain 100% of the shares of the Canadian chemical distributor St. Lawrence Chemical Inc., Montreal, subject to approval from the Canadian Competition Bureau.

Bain Capital Sells Brenntag to BC Partners

 

 

Bain Capital has entered into a definitive purchase and sales agreement to sell Brenntag (Mülheim/Ruhr, Germany), the global leader in chemical distribution, to funds advised by BC Partners. Terms were not disclosed.

 

 

BC Partners (www.bcpartners.com) is a leading pan-European private equity firm, operating through teams based in Geneva, Hamburg, London, Milan and Paris. Since its founding in 1986 the funds advised by BC Partners have invested in 61 acquisitions with a combined enterprise value of Euro 44 billion. The latest fund BC European Capital VIII closed in 2005 with almost Euro 6 billion of commitments and is one of the largest European buy-out funds to date. The recent investments in Italy include Seat (Pagine Gialle group) and Galbani.
